Labor Power & Strategy: A Talk with John Womack

Arizona State University's Center for Work and Democracy is hosting John Womack, author of Labor Power and Strategy, on April 3rd for a two-part event.
Part One: 10:30 to 11:30am (virtually via Zoom)
- Womack will host a webinar
Part Two: 5:30 to 6:30pm at ASU's Tempe campus in West Hall, room 135
- Womack will give an in-person talk on Labor Power & Strategy, accompanied by CWD Director Michael McQuarrie
During the duration of his illustrious career as an economist and historian, John Womack's scholarship has shifted from primarily the study of Mexican history to a study of labor power and strategy. His scholarship considers “strategic positions” at work and loci of work in technical connections-- namely transport, communications, or logistics, but also in manufacturing, education, and health systems. In this talk, his pays special attention to chokepoints in the supply chain and how they can disrupt production or the flow of services to labor’s benefit.
