Learn more about the UCWAZ Legal Defense Fund, available to members statewide.

The United Campus Workers of Arizona has established a Legal Defense Fund, available to any active member statewide. We believe it is essential to organize and provide value to all of our members, regardless of their employment status or financial security; legal defense is one of the many tools for a successful defense against our employer in a pre-majority bargaining environment. By organizing collectively, the union fulfills its core mission of uplifting our members with the opportunity to seek and exercise their workplace rights more fully.

Legal Issues We Help With

  • Employment Discrimination (ADA, Title VII, Title IX)
  • Wrongful Termination
  • Employment Agreements
  • Wage and Hour Disputes

Eligibility Requirements

The Legal Defense Fund is available to all classes of members with the sole exception of Community Support tier members (non-contract workers whose legal claims may expose us to unforeseen liability). We only cover legal services for employment-related claims (except workers compensation); while we cannot provide funds for legal services for issues related to family law, immigration, etc., we can refer folks to relevant places.

For non-employment-related legal defense, please follow through with the information below:

  • Tucson:  Southern Arizona Legal Aid  -- (520) 623-9461
  • Tempe/PHX: Community Legal Services - (602) 258-3434
